Want to rid your organization of ongoing smoldering crises? Start with your people. Some of them may need to thrive someplace else.
Look high, look low. Letting go of people is never easy. But think about it like this: they probably don’t want to be there anyway. Freeing them could be the best thing for them…and for you.
If your negative culture is driven by legacy staff, this is a symptom of a larger problem. Could be weak executive leadership (not able to communicate a vision) or poor staff management.
Three things:
- Hire for attitude and culture first
- Clearly communicate vision with action and action words
- Identify the people that don’t fit and do something about it
*Bonus: Talk to customers / clients. If you see a pattern and they’re all saying the same negative thing about a person or process… it’s a problem. Fix it.
